Just a few tips that I’ve been using for a long time to make Firefox a bit nicer:
In about:config
layout.word_select.eat_space_to_next_word = false
Don’t add an extra space after the last word when copying something to the clipboard. When set to true, the additional space is just annoying when pasting text somewhere else, especially a config key or a piece of code.
network.IDN_show_punycode = true
Show exotic characters in the address bar, for security reason.
apz.overscroll.enabled = false
Disable the over-scrolling effect, because this is so annoying. PS: if you know to do the same on MS Office apps like Word or OneNote, don’t hesitate to contact me 😉
gfx.webrender.all = true
Make the rendering engine less energy-intensive. Use it with caution: see if it breaks nothing and if it has a positive impact on power consumption. It may not work correctly on your machine.
browser.tabs.hoverPreview.enabled = false
Disable the preview on tab hovering.
browser.cache.disk.enable = false + browser.cache.disk_cache_ssl = false + browser.cache.memory.capacity = 800000
I observed that Firefox had some problems when its disk cache was full. Because I have a good fiber connection and a lot a memory, I fully deactivated the disk cache and put it in memory (800MB here).
In userChrome.css
Go to about:support, and open your Profile Folder. Create a chrome folder if it doesn’t exist, then create a file named userChrome.css with this content, then restart Firefox:
.tab-close-button{ display: none !important }
It removes the close button on tabs. I do this because I used to misclick on the close button, and I prefer to use the third click of my touchpad/mouse.
:root {It removes the rounded tab borders (set the radius to 0px if you want to remove the rounded effect completely). Especially useful if you don’t like the new rounded tabs introduced with Nova (Firefox 157).
--tab-border-radius: 4px !important;
}
This is how tabs look like after these two modifications (from the left to the right: the active tab, an hovered tab, and a regular tab):

@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */It removed the “Open All in Tabs” option in bookmarks. I removed it because clicking it by mistake can open dozens of tabs.
#PlacesToolbarItems .openintabs-menuitem,
#placesContext>menuitem[id="placesContext_openContainer:tabs"],
#placesContext>menuitem[id="placesContext_openContainer:tabs"]:not([hidden])+menuitem+#placesContext_openSeparator {visibility:collapse!important}
